The Cotswold Bonnet is a simple, cozy baby bonnet that’s quick to crochet and perfect for cooler days. It’s designed to be made using a flat rectangle that is folded and sewn to form the main body of the bonnet, making it an approachable project even for newer crocheters

The Cotswold Bonnet is really easy and super quick to make. It’s cozy and thick because it uses Aran (number 4) yarn. The bonnet is made from a flat rectangle and then the back is sewn together. Next, a sc ribbing is added around the bottom and front of the bonnet. Lastly, two straps are stitched to either side

One of the great features of this pattern is that it includes multiple sizes ranging from newborn up to toddler, allowing you to create matching bonnets as your little one grows. It’s worked in a thickness that makes it soft yet warm, thanks to the use of aran-weight yarn and a mid-size hook.

For those who learn best visually, a full crochet tutorial video is available that demonstrates the steps involved, including how to shape the ribbing and attach the straps.

This bonnet uses a combination of basic stitches and ribbed edging to give it a snug and comfortable fit. After the rectangle for the bonnet body is complete, a ribbing is crocheted around the bottom and front edges to frame the face and provide extra structure. Two straps are then added on either side so the bonnet can be tied securely under the chin.
