in this video I’m going to show you how to crochet these cute little cats you can use them as appliques for other projects or use them as drink coasters and I will also show you how to turn them into squares you can use them for your favorite granny square projects
for materials you’re going to
need some yarn I have some worsted weight yarn here a crochet hook I have a 5 mm hook scissors and a tapestry needle for weaving in ends you may also want some additional scraps of yarn if you prefer to embroider a face on your cat
Materials:
- Worsted Weight Yarn such as Brava
- 2 yds / 11 m Color A (applique)
- 11 yds / 10 m Color B (square)
Abbreviations
- ch: chain
- dc: double crochet
- hdc: half double crochet
- sc: single crochet
- sk: skip
- sl: slip
- sp: space
- st/sts: stitch/stitches
get started to begin round one I’m going to start with a slip knot and chain four now I’ll be putting all of my stitches in that very first chain if you prefer you could also start with a magic circle and then chain three so I have my slip knot here on the hook I’m going to chain up four and then I’m going to be placing all of my stitches in this very first chain so I’ll be putting in 11 double crochets this very first chain three counts as our first double crochet so
after we make 11 double crochets we’ll have 12 all together so double crochet is yarn over insert your hook into that very first chain that we made grab the yarn and pull it through three loops on the hook yarn over pull through two yarn over and pull through two so these double crochets are us terms double crochet yarn over insert back into that very first Chain Grab the yarn and pull it through yarn over pull through two yarn over pull through two I’m going to do that one more time insert back in

Round 1: work 11 dc in the 4th ch from the hook, join with a sl-st in top of ch 3. – 12 sts
Round 2: ch 3 (counts as dc here and throughout), dc into same st, 2 dc in each st around. Join with a sl-st in top of ch 3. – 24 sts
there so if you like you can pause the video and after you’ve made 11 double crochets plus the chain three will give you 12 I will meet you back here to show you how to finish off round one I’ve just finished my 11th double crochet and with that chain three from the beginning we should have 12 double crochets Al together and then I’m going to slip stitch back into the top of that first chain three to close the round and that’s the end of round one for round two I’m going to start
Round 3: ch 3, 2 dc in next st, *dc in next, 2 dc in next; repeat from * to end of round. Join with a sl-st in top of ch 3. – 36 sts
Round 4 (ears): sk 2, (4 dc, ch 2, 4 dc) in next st, sk 2, sl-st in next 3 sts, sk 2, (4 dc, ch 2, 4 dc) in next st, sk 2, sl-st into next st and fasten off.
